I'm a Technical Architect based in the UK with over 20 years of experience in software engineering. I started out in computer networking and telecommunications research before moving into web development and cloud architecture.

Twenty years on, I'm still as passionate and curious as when I wrote my first lines of code — but now with a good deal more pragmatism and an eye for what actually matters in the real world.

I founded Noiselabs Consulting to bring that depth of thinking to every project — whether it's designing a cloud-native platform, mentoring a development team, or getting hands-on with code.

Mentoring developers, leading architecture reviews, and establishing engineering best practices across teams.

TypeScript, React, Next.js, and Node.js. Python for data and automation. PostgreSQL, Docker, and modern development tooling.

Background

Telecommunications Engineering & Security Research

Graduated from FEUP (Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidade do Porto) in Portugal with a degree in Telecommunications Engineering, followed by a Master's in GNU/Linux systems security — hardened kernels, intrusion detection, and network security.

Web Development & Open Source

Transitioned into web development and became an active contributor to the PHP and Symfony ecosystem, publishing the NoiseLabs bundles and other open source libraries.

Founded Noiselabs Consulting

Established Noiselabs Consulting Ltd to bring deep technical expertise directly to organisations that need it, without the overhead of large consultancies.

TOGAF 9 & ArchiMate 3 Certifications

Gained formal enterprise architecture qualifications, complementing years of hands-on system design with structured frameworks for architecture governance.

AI & Machine Learning Certifications

Pursued several machine learning and deep learning certifications, building a solid foundation in neural networks, computer vision, sequence modelling, and modern AI techniques.

Cloud Architecture & AI-Augmented Development

Current focus on AWS cloud architecture, infrastructure automation, and exploring how AI tools can meaningfully improve the software development process.

Open Source

Giving back to the community

I've been contributing to open source since my university days. Most of my early work was in the PHP and Symfony ecosystem, where I published the NoiseLabs bundles and contributed to several community projects.

I believe in giving back to the community that has given me so much. Open source isn't just about code — it's about collaboration, shared learning, and building tools that make everyone's work better.
